Xeikon has announced the Latin American debut of the Xeikon CX3 at Andina-Pack, the Latin American packaging exhibition which takes place November 10-13 in Bogotá, Colombia. At the show, Xeikon is exhibiting with its distribution partner Graphic Solutions International (GSI) on stand 24 in Pavilion AL5. The high-speed, high quality Xeikon CX3 is the most productive five-color digital label press in its class.

From a recent ‘drupa Global Trends report’ it was noted that the Latin American market is not escaping the general market trends. Run lengths are decreasing with more than 35%, lead times are declining with more than 33% and number ofjobs is increasing with 31%. The Xeikon CX3 is a five-color digital label press that runs at up to 98 fpm (30 mpm) with a resolution of 1200 x 3600 dpi. Its print quality is enhanced by the unique Cheetah toner, specifically developed for high speeds. It complies with FDA regulations for food contact and offers the ability to print opaque white toner in a single pass. In addition, the exceptionally low fusing temperature for this toner means that a wider range of substrates can be digitally printed at very high levels of quality. The availability of custom toners also expands the color gamut that can be achieved, especially when printing brand colors where a process match is difficult to achieve.

Xeikon offers a full suite of solutions for digital printing of self-adhesive labels built around the Xeikon CX3 for a complete, end-to-end solution. “This lets users build an all-in-one solution to print and convert their self-adhesive labels. Innovation with VariLane
Xeikon’s VariLane plug-in, integrated with its X-800 digital label printing workflow for the Xeikon CX3, enables printing different labels in lanes of different widths and heights across the same web. VariLane gives prepress operators the freedom to combine labels in print lanes of variable sizes which improves throughput and reduces waste. In fact, Weymans says, label printers working with VariLane have been able to substantially increase their productivity and reduce material wastage, with resultant cost savings of up to 30%. “This unique capability is made possible by the full rotary technology of Xeikon digital presses, combined with their variable repeat length,” he says.
